Ravenna is a city where art is to be found on every street corner. Its monuments are numerous and many of them are part of the UNESCO.

A city where art is to be found on every street corner, Ravenna is one of the most important places of Italy. Its monuments are numerous and many of them are part of the world heritage of humanity by the UNESCO.

Unfortunately, however, often Ravenna is obscured by other art cities of the peninsula, like Rome or Florence. The beauty of this small town, however, is equally important and it’s a beauty of great cultural importance.

Ravenna is also known as “city of mosaics”, this is because there are numerous works of the 5th and 6th century, which represent the most important mosaics in the world. Visit the Museum of Galla Placidia, where – among many mosaics of special beauty –  the building stands  in a position beneath the often starry sky, creating a breathtaking atmosphere.

Different and equally important mosaics are located inside the Basilica of San Vitale, built in the 6th century, as well as at the Basilica of Sant’Apollinare, made in the same century and where, among the most important mosaics, is the one of Christ surrounded by the evangelists.

Ravenna is, among other things, also the place where Dante was buried. In fact it is precisely here that he died during his exile. His grave is located near the St. Francis complex.

Not to be missed is the Baptistry of the city also and the different museums of the city. Of course there is also something for the youngest, who in Ravenna can enjoy visiting the amusement park Mirabilandia or why not do a fun and instructive visit to the Planetarium.

And finally, we must not forget its beaches, with 35 km of coast where you can enjoy the sea, swim, relax in the Sun or taste the best dishes of  the Romagna region.
So, Ravenna is surely a great choice! Fortunately it’s a city well connected with public transportation therefore there is no need for a car, just walk the delightful streets enjoy the city.
