Everyone has high hopes that their holiday, that hard earned and much anticipated treat, will be an experience to remember. Whether it’s for the scenery, dramatic skies, activities or people encountered. By choosing Sweden as your destination, this is pretty much guaranteed. Here are some things to see and places to stay in Sweden that will far exceed even the highest expectations.
Situated in Stockholm, which is not only the capital of Sweden but also the ‘first city’ of Scandinavia, Vasa is “the only preserved seventeenth-century ship in the world“. The fascinating museum tells the story of how the 70 metre warship sank in 1628 and was retrieved from the water in 1961. Experts have restored the ship and 95 per cent of it, incredibly, is original. Definitely worth a trip.
The Northern Lights
Seeing the Aurora Borealis is a desire that features on many people’s “bucket lists“. A thing they want to do before they shuffle off this mortal coil. It’s little wonder. This natural phenomenon is simply breath-taking, where the reaction of particles in the atmosphere causes the most incredible flashes of light to undulate across the night sky. Book a trip, wrap up and warm and take a decent camera. This is something that shouldn’t be missed.
