Panorama Aigues Mortes

Today we bring you to France, specifically in the town of Aigues-Mortes, a very characteristic, fortified city.

In the past, the population was characterized mainly by sailors, today the French town has a population of 6 000 inhabitants and during the summer it is literally invaded by tourists.

The French name derives from water death, not a causal choice but dictated by the surrounding wetland located around the town.

You’ll also find the salt pans of Aigues-Mortes, between the humid plains and ponds of the Camargue, beside the Gulf of Lion that separates the town from the nearby village of Le Grau-du-Roi.

Notre Dame des Sablons Aigues Mortes

Be sure not to miss the tour of Constance, a round tower built in 1248. This building is still characterized by a cylindrical tower 30 meters of height 22 meters in diameter.

The central tower was once used as a prison. Also worth seeing is the Church of Notre Dame des Sablons, which is the oldest building in Aigues Mortes.
