What to Do and What to See in Catalonia

Located on the eastern coast of Spain, this part of the world has plenty for tourists to see and do.

Church of the Sacred Family

With an identity and language of its own, the region of Catalonia is perfect for anyone who wants to travel abroad and do something a little different. Located on the eastern coast of Spain, this part of the world has plenty for tourists to see and do, but what are the best activities that Catalonia has to offer visitors?

One of the most obvious things you could do during your visit is watch the region’s most famous football team, FC Barcelona, play at their impressive Camp Nou Stadium. They play an exciting, attacking brand of football and the atmosphere at the ground is second to none.

For something a little quieter, you could always visit the Church of the Sacred Family, one of Barcelona’s most outstanding landmarks. Designed by the city’s most famous son, Antonio Gaudi, it remains unfinished despite first being built in 1883.

The Placa de Catalunya, Barcelona’s main square, is also worth visiting, not least because you can see all the city’s sights from there while sampling street food or eating at a restaurant. Barcelona also has the Parc de la Ciutadella, the first inner-city park created in Catalonia, which is a great pocket of tranquillity.

Outside of Barcelona, the province of Tarragon is home to the famous Poblet Monastery. This spiritual site is a perfect example of great local architecture, which makes it worth bringing a camera when you visit.
