Ribe is the oldest town of Denmark, a city rich in history and folklore traditions, ideal for those wanting to explore the origins of this wonderful country.

The old town with its cobblestone streets is packed with churches, historic buildings and typical structures of the medieval period with half-timbered walls which have become crooked due to time.

Ribe has seen the passage of Vikings and remembers them through two important museums built in their honor. The Viking Museum offers an exhibition of tools and objects typical of the Viking age as well as attractions and games to make you understand that period of time in an intense way, the Viking Center is truly the way to immerse yourselves in the middle ages. The Viking Center is in fact a detailed reconstruction of a medieval village with its shops and its buildings but especially with the many activities that were carried out during that period. Walk the streets of the village like Vikings once did and discover the battle preparations were handled and the typical products of that timeframe which are still today made according to original recipes.

Another important Museum is the Ribe Art Museum where you can closely observe a unique collection of Danish art. Although museums are not the only attraction in this town.

We must certainly remember the night watchers. A long time ago, night watchers would stroll around the city streets with Lanterns making sure no one committed any crimes. Then watchers were superseded by police but today the town of Ribe has decided to restore its night watchers so that tourists can listen to the stories and the secrets they hold.

Ribe is immersed in the Wadden Sea National Park which is characterized by the alternation of tides. At certain times of the day, in fact, there are places completely submerged by water that when the tide lower, they show all of their hidden beauty. When the tide is low you can climb aboard a typical tractor that leads to the beautiful island of Mando.

The Wadden Sea National Park allows you to discover seals and many species of birds. Its very atmospheric at sunset to observe the phenomenon of the Black Sun, with thousands of flocks flying all over the territory.

The Park is the ideal place for fishing shellfish, crabs, shrimp and oysters. For this reason the area is full of typical restaurants offering light lunches and unforgettable dinners with local products.
