What to Do and What to See in Rio de Janiero

Rio de Janeiro, a place full of color, music and a rhythm of life that is very different from what we are used to.

Rio de Janeiro

Let’s discover what are the things to do and see in Rio de Janeiro, a place full of color, music and a rhythm of life that is very different from what we are used to.

The capital of Brazil is the city of Brasilia, although many think that it is either one of the two most popular cities of the country: San Paolo or Rio de Janeiro.

It is exactly of Rio de Janeiro that I want to talk about, discovering what are the things to do and see in this place full of color, music and rhythm of life that is very different from what we are used to.

Trem do Corcovado

The Corcovado dominates Rio with a height of 700 meters above sea level that overlooks the city.

This is where the famous Christ the Redeemer rises over the city, 38 meters above the 700 meters.

The Corcovado is one of the most popular places for tourists, who are motivated by both by religious reasons and panoramas to die for.

In particular the views of Pan di Zucchereo, which is another symbol of the city is seen from this view point.

Pão de Açúcar

Rio de Janeiro, Pao de Acucar

Here you will find the Pan di Zucchereo, a block of granite that is 400 meters high, which enshrines the entrance to Guanabara Bay.

You can reach the top by scaling, for the more athletic, or on board a cable car. Once you have reached the top, the panorama will be indelible in front of your eyes.

Praia de Copacabana

Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro

Copacabana, simply the name evokes in us a feeling of joy, because we are getting closer to this named beach that is the most famous in the world.

The white beaches are a “must” and to stroll them is an absolutely must in order to enjoy the true Brazilian lifestyle.

The water is not the best, even for the many people who flock to the beach, however, you go to Copacabana especially to appreciate all it’s surroundings, the people of Rio de Janeiro, in the first place.

Jardim Botânico

Jardim Botanico

As you can easily understand by the name, we are talking about the Botanical Garden of Rio.

It is located just below the Corvovado, where you can appreciate many species, including the flora and fauna. It is one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the world, and you can also enjoy a great lunch.

Eating in Rio de Janeiro

Feijoada, Rio de Janeiro

Rio is a city where it is worth to indulge in some good lunches.

Above all I recommend you try the Feijoada, pork meat cooked with various spices, served with rice and bacon, as well as several other spices and “smells” that are typical of Brazil. My advice is to find a Churracho, enter and let your instinct guide you!

The Maracana

Maracana, Rio de Janeiro

The Maracana Stadium is one of the most important in the world and not surprisingly, a real tourist attraction.

It is possible to visit it every day from 9 to 17, except for holidays.

Guided tours are available inside the stadium, where an area is nothing but a real football museum.

The Carnival

Carnival, Rio de Janeiro

I conclude with another world-famous event: the Carnival in Rio. You have to be in the city at the right time, but it really a unique moment to experience in your life time!

Wagons and people dressed in all types of ways parade through the city, along the Avenue Marques de Sapucai, while the music makes the people go crazy and the samba schools parade their costumes, while dancing with a very special choreography!

It is one of the biggest events in Brazil and, preparing a trip here, that coincides with the days of the carnival is not a bad idea.
