Arguably one of Africa’s most stunning destinations, Zimbabwe was once a hugely popular tourist destination. However there has seen a huge drop in tourist numbers as a result of the events of Zimbabwe’s recent troubled past. Yet in spite of an unfriendly image, tourists who have visited the country in the past few years have given very different reports and it is often the interaction with the locals that makes their holidays so special and changes their perspective of this incredible place.
Truly the country has it all, grand scenery, national parks teeming with animals, guides who know exactly what they’re talking about and one of the best climates in the world. Plus, as tourists are not visiting the country as frequently as other African destinations, you will find it is less crowded and you will be given the royal treatment.
What better reason to come to Zimbabwe than to see Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. The falls are shared with Zambia, so if you like you can hop across the border to see if the grass is greener on the other side. There are many activities to enjoy at the Victoria Falls area including bungee jumping, white water rafting and helicopter and microlight flights over the rushing falls.
Zimbabwe boast many other great places to visit too, including Mana Pools National Park, Hwange National Park; famous for its excellent wildlife viewing. Also enjoy a trip to ruins of ancient cities, seeped in history and built in a distinctive dry stone style.
In terms of safety, so long as you follow the right advice on where to visit and how to traverse the country, you should be absolutely fine.Categories: Guides
